Happy Father’s Day Pappy!!
Well, that how I call my father. Some people opt to call their father dad, some daddy, some pa and some even the cantonese ‘Lou Tau’.
Since young I knew my father loves me very much.
Connie, me, mum, pappy at my graduation 2008
I am the second in the family but I always knew my father loves me more than my brother. I don’t know why. But nevertheless he love both my brother and me very much.
Well, memories from the young. Yeah, I always remember my father riding his motorbike. The Honda Cup C70. My father has a car actually before that. It was a white datsun, but the car was crashed in an accident. I don’t know whether this is true(need to vouch for the authenticity from my father), but I remembered my dad’s lovely car was rammed from the behind. Probably by a lorry. I don’t know, but since then my father did not get a new car, but instead got himself a motorbike. I was probably at that time around the age of 6 or 7. My father always brings me to jalan jalan with his bike. I would sit in front of him putting my legs in the basket. My used to stay in Sri Serdang when I was young, and my father would bring me go makan angin around the PKNS flat area. Well, probably that area has less traffic. Sometimes my mum would tag along. Well, there are actually a few times when the motor break down! Haha.. i still remember. And my father would try to repair himself. Sometimes it fails and we need to walk all the way back home. Not that far actually from my house. Erm , come to think of it it is quite a distance. It it actually that area with the Beryl’s factory all the way to the Lake area in Sri Serdang.
My father's bday in 2008
Well, not long after that my father bought a Nissan Sunny 1.3. Wow, you can’t imagine how happy I am together with my brother. Finally we can travel together with the car. My father was not quite a car enthusiast but indeed he is quite creative!!! If you know the old Nissan Sunny has this big bumpers on the front and the back. So my father used to DIY and paint/spray the bumper. Now it looks more chic. Haha....
Even with the car, but my father did not really use it. My mum use it to go to school which is her work place and also fetches me and brother to places.
My father continues to ride his motor to work at Subang at Airod.
My father was in the army with the rank of seargent. He retires at the age of around 40s. I remember going to school and filling in my father’s nombor tentera instead of IC number. FYI, army doensn’t has an IC but an army ID. Soon after retirement, my father works in an aircon company as technician and soon after that at Airod, which is actually an army airplace service centre so to say. I’ve just visited my father once at his workplace with my mum. I think my mum wanted to pass to him something. He doesn’t look that happy. I don’t know why.
Well, my father remains the my loyal driver for me, not really driver, but using his motorbike to fetch me to music class every Saturday. Well, reason being its easier as my music class area in Sri Kembangan is always jam.
My father is not a christian like I am, but he did not once objected me from going to church. I remember, and still remember vividly one Sunday morning when I was too tired to wake up to go to Sunday school was when I small. My father beat me up with the cloth hanger to wake me up to go to church.....Haha....!!!
Sigh, even with all that, I know my father loves me very much. He encourages me to study hard. To go to form 6. To go to uni. He provides me with his support, silently. He even gave me RM4000 to buy my first laptop, and get me a car after my first year. All this priviledges which my brother did not receive. It might be small for some of you, but to me, it means a lot.
I’ve been always wondering, what my father likes? Because sad to say, even we are staying under one roof, we did not really talk much. We seldom go out together. The only time that we go out together is when going to my grandpa’s house for family occasion and last time when we were smaller younger, used to travel to Penang, Perlis with the car. Now rarely. Even going to the mall, or eating korean food, he refuses to, except chinese cuisine. All he does now everyday, after retirement, is just to sit at home and watch tv. Why ar? Doesnt he feel bored? I don’t know, really. But still I really love him very much.
These day, I am really saddened by the sudden change of behaviour of my grandma. Well, to be frank my grandma doesnt really like my father. Why? I don’t know either. But she always says my father very kedekut. Come to think of it...where got? To me he has been very generous. Sigh, I don’t know. I really hope there will be harmony in my house. This is the place I love. I love everyone in this house. My father is no exception.
There are so many things that I hope I can do it with my father.
I wish that we can have the same interest, ie watchinc football togeher. Or, go for dimsum together, can share my frustration at work with him, receiving constructive meaningful life advice from him, my hopes and dreams, and to bring him travelling. etc
All of the above, never done before, but I really really hope I can do it all with him. That would be perfect.
How to approach him? Even he is my father I don’t know how. It felt so awkward and not comfortable.
But i really do hope we can be best friends, as those shown on tv.
Happy father’s day Pappy.
I look like him rite???
Not going out tonite. My mum’s cooking.
Going for dinner now.
Bye.
