Xmas.
Well, it seems there are some people out there who thinks this fellow who turn christmas into the shorter form of Xmas is actually taking out the Christ from Christmas. I would say that I am guilty of that too some time ago. Before that I have read things like in the U.S. due to pressure from some groups of people, and in order to commercialise Christmas, they are beginning to take out the word christmas and replace to the more friendlier 'Season's Greeting'. Well that might be true to a certain extend.
But how about that Xmas thing? Little did I know that the X actually symbolises Christ as X is Greek is actually the word C. Or rather I can say that there is no such thing as the alphabet C in greek. Thus the X is not taking out Christ from Christmas. But just a simpler form of writing Christmas in its original letter.
But we know that no matter what they call it Xmas or not, its not important. But rather the reason why we are celebrating it.
United States: we know that they celebrate Christmas as just another holiday season and a time of exchanging gifts and Santa Clause
Malaysia: Probably for the same reason as the people is US does. We are copycats don't we?
Japan: I heard from Mun Teng that Christmas for them is like Valentine's day. A day where they will find or try to find a partner if they don't have one.
So, what is your reason of celebrating christmas?
