On my list of best Pork Mee and chinese noodle delicacy, this one is a must in my food dictionary. Whenever I have conversation with my buddies, any ideas for lunch, this would be the first that comes to mind.
No doubt, this is one of the best pork noodle I've ever tasted. Introduced a few years back by Kok How, this heavenly food (lol) can be found in this (quite dirty) cofee shop in OUG. The name? New Sun Sea restaurant, situated just opposite the OUG wet market.
To get there, just search on your GPS to Stevens OUG and then once you get there, just find the wet market, or this corner lot shop within the vicinity. Well, its not that big that area, so finding the place wouldn't be a problem.
Yes, it is pork mee, that there are quite a variety of menu you can choose from.
First choose you noodles:
Either beehoon, keowteow, yellow noodle, or any 2 combination of the noodles.
Then you can choose either noodles with soup, or the 'dry' type which the noodle will be mix with the soy sauce and some minced pork and pork lard.
Then you can choose either the normal one, which has a mixture of shredded pork, minced pork , the internal organs(hehe), sotongs(lol, what is it called?) and some veges. Or if you are a super pork lover, then you can order just minced pork.
The one above is my usual. 'Dry' beehoon and keowteow with the normal ingredients.
You can even choose the 'Big' portion, which comes with more ingredients such as clamps and extra seafood.
Well, what makes this pork mee so different from the others.
Definitely is in the soup.
I heard from my friend the boss actually learn the trade from a Japanese cook. That is why you can taste the distinctive taste of the soup. But I feel the difference probably comes from the mixture of the seafood which add to the 'sweetness' of the soup.
A good pork mee must comes together with this kaw kaw 'cham' peng, which is a mixture of tea and cofee.
A meal made in heaven.
My order:
Cost:
Noodle: RM 5 (it was RM4 2 years aho, and RM3 about 4 years ago-inflation!!)
Drinks: RM1.60
Place: New Sun Sea, OUG (Opposite the wet market)
